When Mephistopheles attempts to turn Aribeth against the PC in the final battle of Hordes of the Underdark, a male character can express his love for her, which will affect the ending cinematic. Should the player's character be male, she can, like in the original game, become a romantic interest despite her incorporeal condition. She is a paladin/blackguard, and will progress in one or other of the classes, depending on the choices made by the PC. She can be killed by the player in Act IV or with correct conversation options, available according to the player's experiences and certain inventory items, she can be persuaded to return a male PC's affections and surrender to their authority, submitting herself for judgement by Lord Nashar for the crimes she committed (inevitably resulting in her hanging).Īribeth makes a return in Act III of Hordes of the Underdark, and it is possible for her to become one of the player's Henchmen provided they complete a side quest. It is later learned that dreams caused by Queen Morag had driven her from her faith in Tyr to see the Cult of the Old Ones as her true path. Unfortunately, no matter how successful the player is with her, she betrays Neverwinter and joins the cult behind the Wailing Death, becoming a blackguard and their captain. In Act II, in the same vein as the female PC's possible romantic interest in Aarin Gend, male PC's can attempt to romance Aribeth. As a result of this, Aribeth starts to question what she previously believed to be unassailable truths: her loyalty to Neverwinter, her faith in Tyr, the quest to find the cause of the plague. She was also the lover of Fenthick, a priest of Tyr who is hanged at the end of Act 1 for unknowingly aiding the spread of the Wailing Death. Aribeth de TylmarandeĪt the start of the game, the Lady Aribeth de Tylmarande was a close adviser of Lord Nasher (the ruler of Neverwinter), a paladin to the god Tyr and works to help find a cure for the Wailing Death. The male counterpart to this is a romance with Aribeth. In Act 4, one conversation is available to the PC about the situation in a war ravaged Neverwinter. These centre around the developing relationship between Aarin and the PC, ending in Aarin confessing his love for the PC. In Act 3, as long as the female PC has kept the amulet, the romance is continued through more player-initiated dialogues. After these conversations, Aarin will present the PC with an amulet.

Through a series of player-initiated dialogues, Aarin tells the PC about his childhood, his experiences with Randall and his service under Lord Nasher. If the PC is female, a romance is playable with Aarin through Acts 2, 3 and 4. With neither willing to change their stance, a duel results, Aarin claiming a bitter victory. Gend is unable to betray Lord Nasher and stay with her, however, and tells her he was sent to kill her.

He was able to infiltrate the guild and became close to Calliara, eventually falling in love with her. Whilst working for Lord Nasher, before meeting the Player Character, Gend was ordered to kill the leader of Neverwinter's thieves guild, a woman named Calliara. Aarin Gend is reputed to be a reluctant murderer he avenged his mother's death by killing his former master, but he is ashamed of the act. His arrest and punishment was due to his association with Randall the Red, a vicious pirate. He is actually a prisoner, serving his sentence as a dutiful employee to Neverwinter. He is Lord Nasher's spymaster and a former slave. Neverwinter Nights Original Campaign Aarin GendĪarin Gend appears in the Original Campaign of Neverwinter Nights, making his first appearance in Act 2.
